What’s New in Cognos Analytics
What’s New In Cognos Analytics v11.1 Data Exploration:
Cognos Analytics v11.1 delivers Diagnostic Analytics into the hands of users. Traditionally, Cognos BI and analytics have delivered robust, enterprise worthy Descriptive Analytics capabilities that answer the “what happened?” sorts of questions in reports and dashboards. Diagnostic Analytics answers the “why did it happen?” questions.
In 11.1.1 Cognos automatically uses sophisticated algorithms to present insights and enable root cause analysis in Visualizations. Cognos also provides a flexible workspace called Explorations, giving users an ad-hoc discovery tool to examine data in an intuitive, guided interface.
Cognos Analytics Enhancements in AI led data exploration and relationship investigation:
Jupyter Notebooks Integration:
Jupyter Notebooks Integration allows Python scripts to be run against CA data sources, and the resulting charts/maps/etc… to be imported into dashboards. I’ve seen a webinar/demo on this and it’s pretty impressive, target audience would be customers that have a dedicated analytics department/team member that use(s) custom scripting outside of Cognos ecosystem (can bring this into Cognos), or advanced business users with an appetite for more controlled, advanced analytics.
