Cooley Distillery lifts spirits with ProStrategy and Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Founded in 1987, Cooley Distillery has the distinction of being the first new whiskey distillery to be established in Ireland in more than a century. Taking its name from the Cooley peninsula in Co Louth, the company’s award-winning range includes Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey, Tyrconnell Single Malt, Connemara Peated Single Malt and Greenore Single Grain Irish whiskey.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV is flexible to cope with our business needs.

Cooley Distillery wanted to provide managers with daily interactive reports covering sales, purchasing, stock and distribution.

The system now successfully controls product configuration, manufacturing, inventory across multiple bonded and non-bonded locations, supply chain management for sales and purchases; financial management; and statutory bond management.

  • Better business decision making

  • Faster closing of month-end financials

  • Improved visibility across the entire business

The Solution

ERP system, including reporting and margin analysis, and the ability to identify costs right down to SKU level.

Cooley also had specific requirements in relation to bonded warehousing, a facility to provide specific statutory control and reporting to Revenue exacting specifications.

Although Dynamics NAV doesn’t have that specific capability preconfigured, ProStrategy worked with Cooley Distillery to develop the required functionality to match Revenue’s specification. This has allowed for seamless integration to the Revenue AEP system from Dynamics NAV which allows for efficient shipment control and reporting.

Having successfully implemented Dynamics NAV, Cooley implemented Jet Reports which provides additional reporting facilities in Microsoft Excel format. This allows Cooley management to analyse in detail the business processes and performance. Jet Reports is now being used to report on production variances, costing variances and also now provides important key performance indicators [KPIs] for Cooley and its US parent company.
